United Nations: A high-level debate on the United Nations peacekeeping missions will take place in the UN Security Council in March, Ambassador Christina Markus Lassen, Denmark’s permanent representative to the UN and the president of the Security Council for March 2025, said on Monday.

“We have added one signature event to the program, which we think has a very clear operational purpose. It is to discuss UN peace operations,” Lassen told reporters.

She described peace operations as “indispensable tools of conflict management and resolution.”

“There are a lot of processes going on, and on question of peacekeeping [there are] a lot of debates,” the ambassador said.

Thus, Denmark wants the issue to be discussed within the UNSC, she said.

Lassen added that Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen would chair the high-level debate, expressing hope for active participation from interested member states.
