Pune: The Congress is working to take along Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi in the Lok Sabha elections. Discussions are underway with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar to finalize the alliance.

tate In-Charge Ramesh Chennithala said here the Mahavikas Aghadi has agreed to contest all Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra together and discussions on the seat allotment are in the final stage. A decision will be taken soon.

A district-wise review meeting of the western Maharashtra division of the Congress was held in Pune in the presence of Chennithala under the chairmanship of state party President Nana Patole during th day.

Addressing a press conference, Chennithala said the Bharatiya Janata Party is using religion for political gain. “The BJP is working to break India’s great traditions and legacies. Lord Sri Ram is revered by all Indians, Lord Ram belongs to everyone, but the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are using Lord Ram as a tool to win elections,” he sid.

He alleged that even after Monday’s Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister made a political speech.

“All people have the freedom to practise their religion, but, unfortunately, the BJP government stopped MP Rahul Gandhi from visiting temples in Assam, and this is not our tradition.

“Rahul Gandhi was invited to visit the temple but was not allowed to enter. The Congress party also condemns the incidents of BJP goons attacking the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam,” he said.

Answering questions from reporters, Chennithala said that NCP president Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray are in talks to make the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi president Prakash Ambedkar a part of the alliance. Congress is trying to get everyone together. Chennithala also said that the seat allotment decision will be announced soon. UNI SP SSP
