A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the case of a 12-year-old being raped, in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. Speaking with the media, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister, Narottam Mishra, said that an SIT has been formed to look into the matter, and a suspect has been taken into custody. Mishra added that the girl is unable to speak properly as of now and she also does not seem to be from Ujjain, but from somewhere else.

The MP-minister also stated that the girl, who is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital, is now stable.

In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old girl was found roaming on the streets of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, in a semi-naked state and bleeding, and while she went from door to door to ask for help, nobody aided her. About 15 KM from Ujjain city, at Badnagar Road, a CCTV camera captured how a man turned her away while she asked for help. Finally, it was a pujari at an ashram who helped the girl, covered her with a towel, and called the cops.

Medical examination of the girl confirmed rape, and as per the police, while she has not been able to tell her name and address, her accent suggests that she is from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. A rape case has been filed against unidentified men, and the POCSO Act has been invoked as well.
