Kollam: The ninth day of the Kerala-leg of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ which resumed from Puthiyakavu here will enter Alappuzha district on Saturday.

The Kerala leg of the yatra has witnessed huge turnout everyday with the involvement of thousands of people who lined up on both sides of road to extend their support for their Wayanad MP.

Claiming that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is determined to end the reign of false promises like never before, Gandhi has said that people of Kerala have supported this yatra with a fervour that showed they considered it as their own padayatra.

Saturday, the foot march will halt at Kayamkulam at 11 am and resume at 5 pm to reach Chepad, near Haripad, where the former Congress president will address a public meeting.

After the foot march came to a close on Friday at Karunagapally, Rahul Gandhi called on spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi at her Ashram at Vallikavu, a day after she met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Over 19 days in Kerala, the padayatra will cover seven districts over 450 km, before it enters Karnataka on October 1.

The all India yatra will cover over 3,750 km and pass through 12 states and two union territories in 150 days.
