Even though the Asia Cup T20 match between India and Pakistan had taken place in Dubai on 28th August, violence as a result of the match can be witnessed in Britain. Violent incidents had taken place on the 28th as well, which can now be seen increasing. This time, the reason behind increasing tensions is the vandalism of a Hindu temple situated at Leicester, 100 miles from London.

Pakistanis burnt down the temple’s flag, and as soon as the news spread, Hindus took to the streets. Youths of both India and Pakistan have engaged in violent clashes against each other in various areas of Leicester. As per the Leicester police, many cases of violent clashes have been recorded after the attack on the Hindu temple, and government and private properties have been damaged.

The police are looking for the culprits who attacked the temple while people from both sides are coming out on the streets, and the police stated that in the wake of the situation, it seemed that it will take many days for the circumstances to turn back to normal. The local government has appealed to the people multiple times, to maintain peace and order.

In the meantime, looking at the current situation, many Muslim organizations of Britain have come together, which include business groups, worker associations and student groups, who have claimed that the Hindus have targeted a mosque, while the Hindus are denying the claim.

As per the National Health Service, Britain’s reports, Leicester has equal population of both Hindus and Muslims, while in other areas of Britain, Hindu population is the double or triple of the Muslim one. In Leicester, there are 7.4% Muslims, 7.3% Hindus, and 2.4% Sikhs, and therefore, the authorities believe that both the sides in the area have a stronghold.
