Having nightmares is common, but in some cases, they become so rampant that they lead to a lack of sleep, tension, and stress among some people. If nightmares continue constantly for a week, the affected person starts believing that something is severely wrong. In the wake of people being troubled with nightmares, in a recent study, the University of Geneva has discovered such a music therapy which will not only reduce the occurrence of nightmares, but can also stop them by 4 times.

According to the study, listening to music before sleeping can turn nightmares into happy dreams and can lead to a sound sleep as music works to control people’s emotions while they are sleeping. This therapy proved to be more efficient among people who have nightmares at least once a week, and in order to get rid of nightmares, people, through music therapy, have become emotionally stronger.

Researchers have also called this the Imagery Rehearsal Therapy (IRT). As per the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, more than 4% of the people of the USA are currently troubled with nightmares. Chief Researcher Dr Lampros Perogamvros has stated that this is the most effective treatment without the use of medicines which reduces the occurrence of nightmares by 4 times.
