Kolkata: The CBI probing the alleged leakage of question papers for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has seized articles, documents and fake and counterfeit stamps, the agency said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted raids and search operations in West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh on November 3 and seized those incriminating documents, stamps of Executive Engineer (Arunachal Pradesh) State Bank of India, hard discs and pen.

“The CBI conducted searches on November 3 at 16 different places in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh in an ongoing investigation of a case related to alleged leakage of question paper of the examination for post of Assistant engineer (Civil) conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission(APPSC) on August 26 and 27.

“The searches resulted into recovery of incriminating documents/articles including fake/counterfeit stamps of executive magistrate of Arunachal Pradesh,” a CBI statement said.

The CBI had registered a case on October 26, 2022 on the request of the Arunachal Pradesh government and further notification from the Indian government.

The CBI said the complainant (a candidate) had alleged that the accused (a teacher of the institute) was in possession of questions for the examination, disclosing leakage of paper by him in connivance with unknown officials of APPSC.

The investigation is continuing to unearth corruption, the agency said.
