During the first 6 months of the year 2022, Indian telecom companies remained at the second spot after Turkey in the average per user income (ARPU), among 21 big countries. During this time period, the ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) of Indian telecom companies increased 20-25%. As a matter of fact, the usage of mobile data had reached its peak during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a downfall in the same can now be seen. Amidst all this, because of inflation and recession, the income of telecom companies in most of the countries is in doldrums.

Nevertheless, India is an exception in this case. As per research conducted by global research firm Techficient on 21 countries, in 11 countries, the ARPU of telecom companies has reduced by 1-16%, and in 7 countries, it has increased by 0.1-5%. In some countries, the income of telecom companies has fallen despite the start of 5G services. But India was the only such country where, in the first six months of 2022, there was no downfall reported in the gigabyte mobile service revenue towards the telecom companies.

On the other hand, India stands at the 19th position out of 45 countries as far as the data usage per sim is concerned. During the first six months, the average data usage per sim, per month was 10.6 GB.
