Union Min Mandaviya unveils Rs 100 cr construction plan of NIPER in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled the 100 crore Construction Plan of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) here.

Located at IDPL, Bala Nagar, the Institute, an Indian public pharmaceutical research university, is one of the seven schools set up under the Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers in the country.

The institute, which offers Master’s and Doctoral degrees in pharmaceutical sciences, plays a major role in human resource development for the Indian pharmaceutical industry.

The institute has also taken an appreciable initiative to promote the excellence in developing the medical devices by collaborating with AMTZ Vizag.

Speaking on the occasion on Saturday, Dr Mandaviya highlighted that the permanent campus will be a landmark for quality and research, which will inspire the best minds to enhance their knowledge.

The industry and academia would also benefit greatly as along with quality human resources, they can also utilize the latest equipment and collaborate with the faculty and scholars, he informed that the 100 crore construction plan will begin with the first phase shortly, for which the formalities have been completed.

The Union Minister, who also inaugurated the NABL accredited Analytical Testing Laboratory and Medical Devices Laboratory in NIPER, said that “Medical devices are one of the core focus areas of the government, which has tremendous scope as the sector can truly make India self- reliant.”

Mandaviya opined that entrepreneurs would find it extremely useful to have such a testing facility well equipped with all high-end equipment.

He said that this is in alignment with the vision of the central government’s Startup India scheme, which promotes the cause of entrepreneurship in pharmaceutical R&D.

The Analytical Testing Laboratory currently works as an empanelled lab within the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP Scheme) and ensures quality control check of medicines, he added.
