Ambedkar statue damaged

Chennai: A statue of Dr B R Ambedkar was damaged by some miscreants in the Neduvarambakkam village area in the northern suburb of Ponneri here today.

Police said the face and a hand in the statue were found damaged. Acting on information from the local villagers, police rushed to the spot and deployed police personnel.

Tension prevailed in the area for some time following the incident.
