Agartala: Former Chief Minister and Rajyasabha MP from Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb has been accused of indulging in violence and instigating communal tension in his native village Jamjuri area of Gomti district on Tuesday, ahead of the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Besides opposition CPM and Congress, report against Deb for implicating false allegation of attack on his ancestral house and vandalizing a vehicle of one saint by local Muslim to BJP central leadership.

“Despite specific direction from the party not to involve in any sort of violence and clash, which may cause negative impact on BJP’s vote bank and bring bad name for the state, Deb is found doing reverse that embarrassed the party and government ahead of Amit Shah’s visit,” a senior state BJP functionary said on Thursday.

He mentioned that Deb has always been found offering opportunities to the opposition parties and triggering controversy with his unnecessary acts and attention-seeking behaviour from the first day he became CM.

Deb has been advised time and again to control himself after he was removed from Chief Minister but he has not been listening.

“Biplab Deb is found involved groupism in the party and attempted to undermine CM and party leaders. He has been running parallel activities in the party and posing himself tall than the BJP for six months – we reported it to Shah and others,” the angry leader said.

Referring to the police investigation, he pointed out that Deb’s followers in VHP threw and tore the flags and festoons of CPM, which were made for their pre-scheduled program and instigated communal tension.

“Nobody attacked Biplab’s house or any BJP workers. Some outsiders claimed VHP activists took shelter his house set three shops in the locality on fire and abused minority people. But Deb told media in a distorted manner to embarrass CM before Amit Shah – police report established it,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the opposition CPM in a statement demanded action against the perpetrators who vandalized the shops, destroyed the party’s flags and forced them to cancel their scheduled program, and instigated communal tension in the state.

“During Biplab Deb’s regime, Tripura had witnessed communal tension and violence, illegal arrest of the independent journalists slapping false charges in several occasions.
