Conducting a reality check on the roads of Delhi at midnight, related to the safety of women, Delhi Women Commission Chief Swati Maliwal fell prey to a grave crime herself. The incident took place on Thursday at 3.11 AM, when Swati, in front of gate number 2 of AIIMS, was taking a stock of the security situation on the footpath along with her team. This was when a white car entered the scene and the driver made obscene gestures, and asked Swati to sit in the car.

When Swati opposed to this, the driver left, but returned after some time, and repeated the gesture. Following this, when Swati tried to reprimand the driver after telling him who she was, he pulled up the car windows and started to escape. Amidst all this, Swati’s hand got stuck in the car, after which Swati was dragged for 15 metres by the driver. The driver, Harish Chandra (47), has been arrested by the police.
