The healthcare system of many countries around the world has collapsed, and even in countries where there is a world-class healthcare system, the death rate in hospitals is going up. Britain’s National Health Service is not working properly, and the circumstances are such that people having a heart-attack are having to wait 90 minutes for an ambulance.

The situation in Canada has aggravated till such a level that members of charitable organization Red Cross had to be called at a children’s hospital to work as there was a lack of staffers. The death rate all across Europe, including Switzerland, has gone up by 10% in merely a year. Bodily ailments get worse in winters, during when people need more care. But when people dial the health emergency number, nobody answers the call.

A major reason behind the lack of medical staff is that the nursing staff and doctors are not receiving enough wages, and hence, are searching for a living in other sectors. Prior to the pandemic hitting the world, in countries like Britain and Italy, a limited share of the GDP was spent on healthcare, and many a times, this was cut down too, and its result is now being witnessed.

During the pandemic, many non-COVID patients were refused to be admitted in hospitals, the adverse effects of which are being dealt with now. People did not receive a treatment on time and now, their situation has turned more critical.
