Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K.Stalin on Tuesday claimed that some people were hatching a conspiracy to oust the DMK regime by inciting caste and communal violence in the State.

Speaking after unveiling a life size statue of DMK Patriarch and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi at Nagercoil in Kanniyakumari district, Mr Stalin, in a veiled reference to the BJP, said some forces were trying to incite caste and communal
violence in the State.

“Some people are trying the divide the country…they are also trying to create a division among the people”, he charged. “These people, with a view to gaining publicity are inulging in mudslinging against us (DMK regime)”, Mr Stalin said and urged the party cadres to work and achieve the goal of winning all the 40 seats (39 in TN and lone seat in Puducherry) in the next year’s Lok Sabha polls.

Mr Stalin’s remarks assumes significance as it comes in the backdrop of social media reports that migrant workers from North India are being attacked in Tamil Nadu, creating panic among them, which was stoutly denied as false and baseless by the State government.

Mr Stalin’s views could also be seen in the backdrop of BJP State Unit President K.Annamalai blaming the ruling DMK for the alleged attacks on migrant workers in the State.

The Cyber Crime Wing of Chennai City Police Central Crime Branch (CCB) filed cases against Mr Annamalai on charges of indulging in “false propaganda” against the DMK government with regard to the issue of migrant labourers from northern states.

After social media posts of north indian workers are being allegedly attacked in the State went viral, Mr Stalin held a high level review meeting with senior officials, and allayed the fears of the migrant workers and said those who spread rumours that migrant workers
are being attacked in Tamil Nadu are against the Indian nation and cause harm to the integrity of the country.

He also said strict action will be taken against those spreading such falsehood.

“It is highly condemnable that some people are indulging in doing such dirty politics on social media”, he said. Mr Stalin said some people who cannot tolerate the peaceful
atmosphere in the State are trying to denigrate the culture of the Tamil people with the ill-intention of bringing a bad name to the Government.

Later, addressing a function said some people were trying to gain political mileage by creating panic among migrant workers from northern states.

He also said none could drive a wedge between the national-level alliance against the BJP by spreading rumours that migrant workers were being attacked in the State.

“It is my message to those who seek to gain political mileage by creating panic among migrant workers from Bihar”, he said warned that whoever tries to disturb law and order, whatever their status may be, will be dealt with an iron hand.

Sate DGP C.Sylendra Babu also warned of strict action, including jail term upto seven years against those who spread such false informations.

He said untrue and false information that migrant labourers from northern states are being attacked in Tamil Nadu has been spread by some miscreants on the internet and social media platforms.

Those who spread such false news are being identified and action is being taken against them, he said, adding, four people were booked in different parts of the State under various sections of the IPC for spreading false and baseless information.

The editor of hindi daily, Dainik Bhaskar, was among those booked under various sections, inclduing,153(A), 505(i)(b) of IPC.
