Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Congress Government has decided to replace BJP’s flagship program ‘Jan Manch’ by a new public grievance scheme to reach out to the common-man on their doorsteps, as stated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while replying to a query raised by Congress member Yadvinder Goma during the question hour in Budget session of state assembly on Wednesday.

Rejecting the demand of opposition BJP to continue this program launched in 2018, the Chief Minister stated that Congress government does not need to learn from the former Government about how to run a more efficient scheme to reach-out to common people at their doorstep. Rejecting frequent intervention by leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur in the assembly, the Chief Minister stated that the former CM is insisting the present government to follow its old scheme Jan Manch. Sukhu stated that the former BJP government is no longer in office and the new government is not keen to carry forward their schemes.

Earlier replying to a query, Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh stated that the former Government spent as much Rs. 534.38 lakh on the Jan Manch scheme. The Minister said the Congress government would run Khula Darbar program to hear the public grievances to resolve their grievances.

Earlier, protesting over the reply given by the chief minister on this query, all the members of opposition went to the well of the house protesting against the decision. However, the opposition attended the proceedings of the house after the question hour.

Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated that the Congress government should carry forward this flagship program in the public interest . He said the concerned minister also agreed in his reply that 43821 public interest matters had been resolved in Jan Manch. Accusing the present government for doing politics he alleged that people are moving from the post to pillar to resolve their demand as no such programs are being run in the state now.
