Karimnagar: BJP Telangana Unit President Bandi Sanjay Kumar, MP, was arrested here on Tuesday midnight.

A police team led by ACP Thula Srinivas took him into custody at 0045 hours when he was at his mother-in-law’s house and shifted him to Bommalaramaram police station under Rachakonda police Commissionerate here.

Before his arrest, Bandi argued with the police about the reason for his arrest. However, Srinivas refused to explain and stated that he had the right to arrest, promising to disclose the reason at the police station.

Upon hearing about Bandi Sanjay’s arrest, party activists reached the area and tried to prevent the police from arresting him. They also raised slogans against the police. However, the police forcefully arrested Sanjay and moved him to Bommalaramaram Police station.

BJP leaders and activists staged dharnas and Rasta Rokos across the state on Wednesday to protest against the arrest of Kumar.

According to one version, the police arrested him because he failed to attend before the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which had issued a notice asking him to show evidence related to the TSPSC question paper leakage issue. Instead of attending in person, he sent a legal team to represent him.

Another version is that he allegedly planned to hold a press conference related to the 10th class question paper leakage day before yesterday and on Tuesday, and the arrest was made in this connection
