Varanasi: Bhojpuri singer Samar Singh was arrested from Nandgram area in Ghaziabad on Friday for allegedly inciting Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey to commit suicide, police sources said.
Police sources said that with the help of Ghaziabad police the Crime Branch team of Varanasi Commissionerate arrested Samar Singh in the morning from Charms Crystal Society under Nandgram police station. His brother Sanjay Singh is still absconding, they said.
Samar Singh allegedly incited Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey to commit suicide. Her mother Madhu Dubey had lodged an FIR against Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh at Sarnath police station in Varanasi on March 27.
It may be noted that Akanksha Dubey committed suicide on March 26 in Somendra hotel in Sarnath area.
Police sources said that Samar Singh is being brought to Varanasi on the transit remand. “He was produced in a court in Ghaziabad after medical examination which gave him on transit remand,” they said.
