Kolkata/Bankura: Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has once again come down heavily on the BJP and accused the latter of stopping Bengal’s funds.
Charging the BJP with “misusing” Central Agencies like ED and CBI to carry out a political witch-hunt against the Trinamool Congress, Banerjee said, ” PM@narendramodi’s efforts to harass opposition leaders are futile. ”
” With people’s support, nobody can undermine TMC, ” he averred.
Stating that the people in eight Assembly Constituencies of Bankura didn’t vote for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said still her government spent ₹1,000 Cr. and made money available in everyone’s bank accounts.
” We don’t see who voted for us and who didn’t. As the ruling party, our duty is to serve, ” Banerjee added.
Banerjee resumed his two-month-long Jono Sanjog Yatra (Mass Outreach Programme) as part of Trinamoole Nabo Jowar on Monday from Bankura from where he had to cut short his Cooch Behar to Kakdwip yatra following CBI summon to appear before the Investigation Officials on Saturday in regard to the alleged teachers’recruitment scam in State Government-aide schools.
It might be mentioned that Supreme court on Monday agreed to hear on May 26, Friday, the plea filed by Abhishek Banerjee, challenging an order of Calcutta High Court allowing the ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI probe against him in the school jobs-for-cash scam.
The matter was mentioned on Monday by Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, senior lawyer appearing for Abhishek Banerjee, before a two-judge vacation bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Aniruddha Bose and Sanjay Karol, who fixed the matter for hearing it on May 26.
Banerjee also challenged Calcutta High Court order of imposing cost of Rs 25 lakh on him.
