Four kills in Himachal rain-related mishap

Shimla: The rain-related mishaps have taken a heavy toll on lives and property in Himachal Pradesh, as during the last four days of Monsoon season, about 14 people have been killed and hundreds of livestock have died and washed out, leading to a loss of revenue of Rs 250 Crore to private and public property.

A report arriving here said that a car carrying five youths fell in a 300-foot-deep gorge near Shulan Curve on Kaleda-Majhvati Road under the Rampur subdivision. Four died on the spot, and one was referred to the Khernri hospital.

The victims were returning home early on Wednesday after attending a marriage party. The deceased were identified as Avinash, Suman, and Himani (all 22 years old), and Sandeep (40), all of whom belong to Kukhi village in Rampur. One woman was hospitalised at Rampur Civil Hospital.

In another mishap, 20 sheep and 40 goats died due to lightning in Shunkchang, at the top of Kullu Manikarna Valley. One person was injured.

Information Animal Husbandry Department and Revenue Department teams left for the spot, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department Vishal Sharma informed.
