On Friday, July 7, the Mario Gallery, Goa, served a notice to Sean ADevent, which is the event management agency for the G20 Summit in Goa, as the artwork of Mario De Miranda was illegally used at the summit. Along with the event management agency, copies of the notice have also been sent to the Chief Secretary, and the Nodal Officer.

The notice is with respect to the installation of Mario Miranda’s famous caricature drawings in the form of life-sized figurines placed at Old Goa and Dona Paula, for the G20 Summit. Till now, the Mario Gallery has taken note of 8 figurines at Old Goa, 8 figurines in 2 clusters at the Goa University, and 4 figurines at NIO Circle.

As per a press release issued by the Mario Gallery, Goa, there are reports of many more figurines which are currently being verified, and the legal notice sent by the gallery has given Sean ADevent 7 days to recall and hand over all the figurines of Mario Miranda’s artwork at various locations. The legal notice also states that if the event management agency does not comply within the time given, the Mario Gallery will initiate appropriate legal proceedings.
