Tripura to host immersion carnival of Durga idols in Agartala

Agartala: Information and Cultural Affairs of Tripura will host a colourful immersion carnival of Goddess Durga on October 26 from Agartala city centre where about 100 idols would be taken out in the mega event, officials said here on Monday.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar held the preparatory meeting for hosting Mayer Goman and Sharad Sanman-2023 with the officials of district administration, public representatives, police and various other departments on Sunday and directed to finalise the plan of the event before Durga puja begins on October 20.

Dr Saha instructed the officials to make sure that all the roads were repaired and ready for the upcoming festival. He also requested the authorities of all clubs and community puja organizers to abide by the rules and regulations framed by the government for peaceful observance of the festival.

As many as 47 clubs and organizations participated in the immersion carnival and the government had given 21 prizes to community puja organizers last year, which is expected to be more than double this time, officials added.
