Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed officials to do a comprehensive review of allotment of land to the Koyna project victims in seven districts.
Presiding over a meeting held to discuss pending demands of the Koyna project victims at the Sahyadri guest house here, he also directed the concerned agencies that they should take immediate action to resolve pending demands of project victims, especially the issue of civic facilities for 22 villages that have been rehabilitated in Raigad district.
Sharing information about the Bombay High Court’s order on allotment of land to Koyna project victims in the meeting, he said that as per this order, a high-powered committee has been constituted under chairmanship of the principal secretary of Relief & Rehabilitation.
Divisional commissioners of Konkan and Pune as well as collectors of Satara, Raigad, Pune, Thane and Solapur are included as members in this committee.
Shinde advocated for a comprehensive review of lands allotted to the Koyna project victims so far and said that eligibility criteria of the project victims should be verified so that land can be allotted to the project victims who have not yet received land.
The Chief Minister also said that if 7/12 extract has been closed on the lands of some project victims even though they are not in use, the procedure for returning them should be determined.
Notably, 22 villages of Koyna project victims have been rehabilitated in Khopoli taluka of Raigad district. But they are still not provided with civic facilities.
On this, the Chief Minister directed the concerned district collectors to submit a proposal to the Relief & Rehabilitation Department.
