Shukla played role in setting up Asia’s biggest solar plant

Bhopal: BJP stalwart Rajendra Shukla – who was sworn in as Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister on Wednesday – has several noteworthy contributions to his credit vis-à-vis Vindhya region.

While serving as Renewable Energy Minister, he facilitated the establishment of Asia’s largest solar plant in Rewa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the facility to the public. As Forest Minister, he played a key role in the bringing of white tigers to a zoological park at Mukundpur.

Born on August 3, 1964, Shukla is an engineer by profession. He served as students’ union President at the Rewa Engineering College and was first elected to the Assembly from Rewa in 2003.

He was Minister of State in the Uma Bharti Council from June 2004 to December 2005. Subsequent to emerging victorious in the 2008 polls, he was elevated as MoS (Independent Charge).

A year later, he assumed the Renewable Energy portfolio. In 2012, he was made Cabinet Minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan dispensation. Shukla was re-elected in 2013, 2018 and 2023.
