Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said the 2024-25 interim budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament is heading in the right direction to fulfill India’s dream of becoming a five trillion-dollar economy.
“This is a very bold and bright budget that is heading in the right direction for the country to achieve the 5 trillion-dollar Economy, which is the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said on X.
Bommai said it provides a robust economic picture of the last nine years. “Even though it is an interim budget, it provides a robust economic picture of the last nine years. Increasing FDI, increasing employment rate and increasing Jan Kalyana Schemes. It strikes a fine balance between inclusive growth and economic growth,” he said.
The former CM said the budget strikes a fine balance between inclusive growth and economic growth and is growth-oriented, with the emphasis once again placed on infrastructure, housing for the poor, more funding for farmer programs, and women-oriented growth.
The budget also offers relief for taxpayers and provides an opportunity for the state to improve its economics by offering 1.5 lakh crores with 0% interest or payable in 50 years, along with certain reforms, Bommai said.
Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa said the grand ambition of building a strong India for the next milestone, the budget tabled in the Parliament is a confidence-inspiring promise to create a plan to build an India that will stand at the forefront of the world by 2047.
Congratulating Sitharaman for presenting the budget for the sixth time, Vijayendra said it is an ambitious budget, which aims to realize the dream of a developed India by emphasizing the development of various sectors including agriculture, transport, industry, employment, tourism, medicine, education of the country.
He said Modi’s government has presented an excellent budget that will secure the country’s economy and fulfill its ambition of building a new India. “A significant step has been taken by giving hope to the masses,” he added.
Former CM BS Yediyurappa called it a progressive budget that would further strengthen the country’s economy and towards the realization of the concept of Navbharat by PM Modi.
The budget, Yediyurappa said, will improve the standard of living of youth, farmers, women and especially the backward and vulnerable sections of the people, creating new hope and opportunities. “Without presenting the budget of pre-election popular slogans, through this interim budget, the Union Finance Minister has presented a realistic budget,” he said.
This budget has reaffirmed the commitment of the NDA government towards building a strong, empowered, developed, world-guru India in the coming days, he said.
