Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Thursday bounced back by 535.15 points to close at 73,158.24 on the strength of auto, capital goods, and power stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 162 points to 22,217.45.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,252.50 and 21,875.25 points, respectively.
The Sensex opened at 72,677.51, rising 54 points. During the day, it spurted 633 points at 73256.39, days high, before closing at 73158.24′, surging 535.15 points from the three previous closes.
The midcap gained 0.92 pc and the smallcap gained 0.54 pc.
In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.
The gainers were HCL Technology by 2.98 percent to Rs 1684.40, ITC by 2.88 percent to Rs 414.90, M&M by 2.63 percent to Rs 1909 and TCS by 2.31 percent to Rs 4081.30.
The losers were IndusInd Bank by 1.68 percent to Rs 1492.10, HDFC Bank by 1.14 percent to Rs 1421.75, Kotak Bank by 0.93 percent to Rs 1729.75 and SBI by 0.66 percent to Rs 766.45.
