In an official circular, it was notified by the Bihar Education Project Council, that the annual examinations of the students of standards I to IV and standards VI and VII, in all the government and government-aided elementary schools of Bihar, were to take place from March 21 to March 28, 2024. Additionally, it was informed that while the remaining schedule would be followed, only the examinations scheduled to take place on March 25 would be held on March 30, and the examination to be held earlier on March 30 would be held on March 29, 2024.

An examination scheduled to be held on March 29 became a matter of concern for the Christians of the state because the day marks Good Friday, an important festival for the community.

Asking for a solution for their concern, the Bihar BJP Minority Morcha had approached Goa BJP leader Savio Rodrigues, and with the latter’s intervention in the matter, the concern of the Christians in Bihar could be resolved.

Speaking with Sonakshi Datta of GoaChronicle on the matter, Bihar BJP Minority Morcha Vice-President, Rajan Clement, said, ‘An examination scheduled on Good Friday caused great concern among the Christian community in the state. But after we approached Savio and he requested the Bihar Governor, Rajendra Arlekar, to look into the matter, Arlekar immediately went on to resolve the matter and urged the chief secretary of Bihar to reschedule the examination.’

‘We are yet to receive a notification from the chief secretary regarding the new examination date, and while we also wrote to the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, we are yet to receive a notification from the CMO.’, added Clement.

The Bihar BJP Minority Morcha VP further said, ‘Good Friday is a prayerful and important day for the Catholic Christian community. This is the day when Jesus Christ was crucified and the Catholics keep a fast on this day from morning to evening. Therefore, an examination scheduled on this day for a concern.’
