UP: Around 25.2 pc votes polled on 8 seats till 11 am

Lucknow: Approximately 25.2 per cent of 1.44 crore voters polled their votes in four hours across eight parliamentary constituencies in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh till 11 am, as per polling officials.

According to Election Commission data, a maximum 29.28 per cent votes were polled on Saharanpur seat, whereas Rampur witnessed the lowest turnout of 20.71 per cent in the first two hours.

In the same time, 25.5 per cent polling was done in Bijnor, 25.89 per cent in Kairana, 23.35 per cent in Moradabad, 22.62 per cent in Muzaffarnagar, 26.89 per cent in Nagina and 26.94 per cent in Pilibhit.

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer in the state said that polling continues peacefully, and barring minor glitches, no untoward incident was reported.

“From some places, there were complaints regarding problems with electronic voting machines, which were addressed timely, after which polling resumed,” they said.

The polling, which began at 7 am, will continue till 6 pm.
