Nalgonda (Telangana): Amid tight security, the counting of votes for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda MLC graduate constituency by-election, held on May 27, began on Wednesday.
The counting is taking place in four halls of the A Duppalappalli State Warehousing Corporation warehouse in the suburbs of Nalgonda town from 0800 hours on Wednesday. The staff is collating the votes from the ballot boxes of all 605 polling stations. Bundles will be tied until noon, and first-priority votes will be counted starting at noon. The final result is expected by midnight today.
A total of 52 candidates, including Enugu Rakesh Reddy from BRS, Teenmar Mallanna from Congress, and Gujjula Premender Reddy from BJP, are in the fray in this election. Voters from the constituency, which spans 34 assembly constituencies, cast their ballots at 605 polling booths.
68.65 per cent of the total 4,63,839 graduate voters registered in this by-election.
Officials have arranged three-tier security at the counting center. Section 144 has been implemented. Electoral Returning Officer Harichandana announced that all arrangements have been made for the counting. SP Chandana Deepthi ordered that no party leaders, workers, or fans should gather near the counting center due to the implementation of Section 144. Everyone is expected to cooperate until the counting is completed.
