This is the second meeting between the two prime ministers in less than two weeks, as the Bangladesh PM attended the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi on June 9.

While PM Modi has formed the government for a third consecutive term, PM Hasina came to power for the fourth successive term following the January 7 elections in her country.

On Friday evening, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on the Bangladesh PM at the Taj Palace hotel.

PM Sheikh Hasina on Friday invited Indian businesspersons to invest in Bangladesh, stating that she prioritises neighbouring countries.

“You come to Bangladesh and make investment,” she said while interacting with a delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which called on her in New Delhi on Friday evening.
