Lavrov arrives in New York to participate in UN Events

New York: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in New York, where he will chair a ministerial-level open debate of the UN Security Council on July 16-17, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Tuesday.

On July 1, Russia took over the chairmanship of the UN Security Council for a month.

Lavrov will take part in an open debate on multilateral cooperation on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Russian minister will chair a ministerial-level open debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.

The program of the minister’s visit is being formed, and a number of countries have expressed interest in holding bilateral meetings, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
