Vizag Port inks MoU with MECON for development of Port infrastructure

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MECON Ltd. to leverage its engineering consultancy expertise for the development of port infrastructure.

The MoU was signed in the presence of VPA Chairperson Dr. M. Angamuthu here on Thursday.

The partnership focusses on enhancing VPA’s port infrastructure, enabling it to efficiently handle various materials, including on-shore material handling systems for coal, ore, and other materials, VPA Secretary T. Venu Gopal said in a release here.

MECON will provide consultancy for projects such as rapid loading systems, railway sidings, sewage treatment plants, electrical systems, automation, and power distribution and improve its overall operations.

MECON will offer a wide range of services on a case-by-case basis, including feasibility and detailed project reports, environmental impact assessments, design and engineering consultancy, procurement assistance, project management, inspection services, and independent engineering expertise.
