Buenos Aires: An Argentine court has issued an arrest warrant for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on charges of alleged “crimes against humanity,” the TN broadcaster reported.

Earlier, a Venezuelan court issued an arrest warrant for Argentine President Javier Milei, the head of the presidential secretariat Karina Milei, and Security Minister Patricia Bullrich over the incident with the Emtrasur plane.

In early September, Argentina asked the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Maduro.

In 2022, a Boeing 747 of the Venezuelan company Empresa de Transporte Aereocargo del Sur (Emtrasur) was seized at Argentina’s Ezeiza airport. A local court earlier this year ordered the plane to be handed over to the United States, after which it was flown to Florida. According to Venezuelan media, the plane was transported under the guise of a military flight, thereby circumventing the lack of permission to fly from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in various airspaces. The confiscated cargo plane was destroyed.
