PM Modi, Maldives President Muizzu hold bilateral talks

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu on Monday held bilateral talks, with several agreements expected to be inked.

The MEA spokesperson in a post on X said:

“Taking forward India-Maldives special ties!

PM @narendramodi warmly received President @MMuizzu of Maldives as the latter arrived at Hyderabad House.

“Extensive discussions on India-Maldives bilateral relations lie ahead.”

Earlier, Maldives President Muizzu was on Monday accorded a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Maldives President, who arrived on Sunday afternoon, is on a five day state visit to India at the head of a high-level delegation. This is his first bilateral visit to India since he took over earlier this year. He had come to India in June to attend the swearing in ceremony of PM Modi and his ministerial team.
