Tirupati: The last rites of Nara Ramamurthy Naidu, former Chandragiri MLA and brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, were performed with full state honours in his hometown, Naravaripalle, on Sunday.

Ramamurthy Naidu, who had been battling ill health, passed away on Saturday afternoon while undergoing treatment at AIG Hospital, Gachibowli in Hyderabad.

His body was brought to Renigunta from Hyderabad in a special flight early Sunday morning and transported to Naravaripalle by road.

It was placed at Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Naravaripalle for public viewing, allowing fans, relatives, friends, political leaders, and the public to pay their final respects.

A visibly emotional Chandrababu Naidu paid tribute to his brother, accompanied by family members, including his son Nara Lokesh. Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, along with several political leaders and prominent figures from the Telugu film industry, also paid homage to Ramamurthy Naidu.

The last rites commenced at 1430 hours in the presence of a large gathering.

Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh carried Ramamurthy Naidu’s coffin to the cremation site. His cremation was conducted with full state honours in the same area where the last rites of their parents, Ammannamma and Khajura Naidu, were performed.

The solemn event witnessed a heartfelt outpouring of grief from family, friends, and the public who gathered to bid a final farewell.
