As the counting of votes goes on in the state of Jharkhand, as per the latest ECI figures, the JMM-led Mahagathbandhan has already crossed the majority mark, and is leading on 50 seats out of the 81 in all in the state. As per the early trends after Jharkhand voted in two phases on November 13 and November 20, the ruling regime led by the JMM has an upper hand over the BJP and its allies.

While the JMM fought on 41 seats, and gave the remaining ones to its allies; Congress (30 seats), RJD (6 seats), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Lenninist) (4 seats). On the other hand, the BJP contested 68 seats, and its allies, the All-Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) fought on 10 seats, and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on 1 seat.

If these early trends do not change, the JMM-led Mahagathbandhan certainly will come back to power for another term; while the exit polls had indicated that the BJP-led NDA is likely to win 42-47 seats, and the currently leading JMM-led INDI bloc might get 25-30 seats.
