Patna: Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday promised to give a social security pension of Rs 1500 per month if his party RJD was voted to power in 2025 state assembly elections.

Yadav announced the decision of his party on social media account ” X “, that a social security pension of Rs 1500 per month would be given to all persons having attained the age of 60 years. Physically challenged persons and widows would also be given a monthly pension of Rs 1500 if his party RJD was voted to power in Bihar in the next assembly elections slated for October-November 2025, he added.

RJD leader said that Rs 400 per month was being given at present as social security pension. When prices of all essential commodities had increased so much, there was no meaning to giving a paltry sum of Rs 400 as social security pension per month, he remarked.

Yadav had earlier also promised 200 units of free electricity to every household per month if his party was voted to power in the next assembly elections. He had also been opposing the drive of the Nitish government to install a pre-paid smart meter in every household, saying it was showing exaggerated consumption of electricity, which caused monetary losses to the poor and common man of the state.
