AI could contribute lakhs of crores to Indian Economy: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed hope that the Artificial Intelligence could contribute lakhs of crores to the Indian economy and in this direction, we have allocated Rs 500 crore for AI-driven education and research in the budget.

Addressing a post Budget webinar on Employment, the Prime Minister said, “To unlock AI’s potential, India will set up a National large language model”.

He noted that our private sector also needs to stay one step ahead of the world…adding the world is waiting for a reliable, safe and democratic country that can provide economical solutions in AI”.

Speaking about the decision taken in the Budget 2025-26 to boost the job opportunities in the country, Modi said “We have started, PM Internship Scheme will provide new opportunities and practical skills to the youth”.

He informed that in this year’s budget, we announced 10,000 additional medical seats, with a target of adding 75,000 seats in the medical field over the next 5 years.

On the economy front, the PM quoting IMF report said in the 10 years between 2015 and 2025, the Indian economy has registered a growth of 66%.

“India has now become a 3.8 trillion dollar economy. This growth is more than many big economies.The day is not far when India will become a 5 trillion dollar economy” he added
