Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday urged the Central government to take the destruction of Kancha Gachibowli forestland issue seriously and expedite its investigation that may also involve the mortgage of land by the Congress government.

KTR while appealing to PM Modi, said on X: “It’s time to prove that in Telangana, BJP and Congress are not colluding.” He also called for genuine concern for environmental protection and accountability.

“I was encouraged to hear your speech about the destruction of Kancha Gachibowli forest by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy. However, I hope it’s not just lip service”, he said in his appeal to the Prime Minister.

The devastation in Kancha Gachibowli is not just a grave environmental catastrophe, destroying biodiversity across over 100 acres, but also a massive financial fraud perpetrated by the Congress government, KTR alleged.

“We have already alerted by writing to various investigating agencies about the Rs 10,000 crore financial fraud involving the mortgage of Kancha Gachibowli land,” said the BRS leader, adding the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) appointed by the Supreme Court has confirmed the existence of a financial impropriety. The BRS called for a thorough investigation by Central agencies.
