US asks India, Pakistan to keep lines of communication open, avoid escalation

Washington/New Delhi: The US has asked both India and Pakistan to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation, after India launched strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Islamabad has vowed revenge.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to the National Security Advisors of both countries.

The US State Department said in a post on X:

“Earlier this afternoon, @SecRubio spoke to the national security advisors from India and Pakistan. He urged both to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation.”

Earlier, Indian NSA Ajit Doval had spoken with Rubio, who is also the US NSA, to inform him about India hitting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack.

Rubio later spoke with Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik.

Lt Gen Asim Malik was appointed as Pakistan’s new NSA while concurrently serving as the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The appointment came days after the Pahalgam terror attack which led to escalation of India-Pakistan tensions.
