Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday emphasized yoga’s role in building a healthier Andhra Pradesh, urging citizens to make yoga a daily habit.
Linking yoga to long-term development, the Chief Minister emphasized that the core goal of Swarna Andhra @ 2047 is a “healthy, wealthy, and happy Andhra Pradesh.”
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu participated in the International Yoga event organized at the RK beach here on Saturday. The Chief Minister, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi practised yoga in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said: “When our youth embrace yoga, they gain not just health but the focus to succeed in today’s digital world,” he stated, announcing plans to integrate yoga into education and community programmes. He reiterated that yoga is a powerful wellness tool in the fast-paced digital age, uniting mind, body, and spirit.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister advocated yoga’s inclusion in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Olympics. He called for citizens to dedicate one hour daily to yoga, especially urging youth to adopt it for enhanced concentration and creativity in the digital era.
The celebration embodied the “One Earth – One Health” vision, aligning with Swarna Andhra @ 2047 to create a prosperous society contributing to India’s growth.
The Chief Minister commended the people’s overwhelming response, highlighting how 22,122 tribal students recently set a Guinness World Record for mass Surya Namaskar. “From villages to cities, yoga has become a true people’s movement in Andhra Pradesh,” Naidu observed, noting participation across all 26 districts.
Naidu acknowledged the 1.44 lakh yoga trainers whose efforts enabled the campaign’s remarkable reach, including special programmes at over 100 tourist sites and certifications for 1.7 crore participants. “The yoga event showcased yoga’s universal appeal, with participants ranging from tribal communities to urban professionals united in celebrating this ancient practice,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the global recognition of International Yoga Day since its adoption by the United Nations. He credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in driving this impact, with Yoga Day now celebrated at over 12 lakh venues across 175+ countries and 10 crore participants worldwide. He thanked PM Modi for granting Andhra Pradesh the honor to host this historic event.
