New Delhi: Chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC) Jay Shah on Wednesday said that viewership for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in India has crossed 500 million, marking the highest-ever audience for any edition of the tournament.
In a post on social media, Shah said the journey of the 2026 T20 World Cup began with the ambition to make it the most global and accessible cricket event.
He expressed gratitude to fans, noting that the response from Indian viewers had been overwhelming.
He further revealed that concurrent viewership on JioHotstar reached a peak of 60.5 million during the tournament.
The T20 World Cup 2026 enters its semifinal stage on Wednesday, with the first clash at Eden Gardens seeing New Zealand face South Africa.
The second semifinal will be played on Thursday at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium, where India will take on England.
