Geneva: The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar took the World Health Organisation (WHO) to the Dhobi Ghat (Cleaners) at the World Health Assembly.

Azar in his official US addressed at the 73RD World Health Assembly stated that the WHO failed in its role of being a global health leader and that failure cost us many lives.

He further added that WHO failed at its core mission of sharing and transparency, as coronavirus spread around the world.

Without naming China, Azar, asserted that in an apparent attempt to conceal this outbreak, at least one member state made a mockery of their transparency obligations, with tremendous costs for the entire world.”

“We saw that WHO failed at its core mission of information sharing and transparency when member states do not act in good faith. This cannot ever happen again,” he further expressed.

On parting but effective note, Azar called for a more effective WHO.
