New Delhi: At a time when social distancing is the new manta, former Congress president has decided to lead by example and practice social distancing from the Maharashtra government.

Answering media questions on the Maharastra failure to contain the coronavirus pandemic at his online press conference, Congress leader stated, “I would like to make a differentiation here. We are supporting the government in Maharashtra, but we are not the key decision maker in Maharashtra. We are decision-makers in Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Puducherry. There is a difference between running the government and supporting it,”

He further elaborated, “I said very categorically that Maharashtra is an important state, Mumbai is the financial capital and there is a lot of attention, they have a difficult situation and lots of attention needs to be given to the state by the centre.”

Political circles in India are rife with talks of uneasiness in the Maharashtra alliance government with Congress opting to distancing itself from the poor management of the coronavirus crisis by Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress alliance.
