Kolkata: Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and party’s second-in-command Abhishek Banerjee carved a niche for himself, taking an unassailable lead of more than six lakh votes over his nearest BJP rival Abhijit Das alias Bobby from Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency in South 24 Parganas.

With this margin, Banerjee created a record of sorts in the history of election in West Bengal.

Trinamool Congress storm not only decimated the saffron brigade in the state, but also held its sway once again.
