Chennai: Almost a month after launching the flag of his newly-formed political outfit and
the symbol, popular actor and Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) Founder Vijay has announced that the first state conference of the parry will be held on October 27.
The conference was earlier scheduled this month for which police have given the nod with certain conditions, but was deferred as there was little time left for preparations at the venue, where at least one lakh of his fans and supporters are expected to participate.
In a statement on Friday, Vijay said the first conference of the party will be held at V.Salai village near Vikravandi in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu in which he would unveil the party’s ideology and principles that would toe the path of dravidian ideology.
During the conference, the party’s ideology would be released by Vijay, who had announced his political entry by forming his own party in February this year.
As per his announcement, the TVK did not contest the recent Lok Sabha polls and also not
supported any political party as his target was the 2026 Assembly elections, in which he said the party would contest all the 234 Assembly seats in the State.
Last month Vijay unveiled his party flag and the logo and said an announcement of the party’s first state conference would be made soon.
In line with this, he said that the meet would now be held on October 27.
Vijay said Tamil nationalism will be the cornerstone and his party’s political ideology will focus on striving for the welfare of Tamils and protect their rights including federalism and state autonomy.
Vijay, who had paid floral tributes to Rationalist leader and social reformer Periyar E V Ramasamy on his birth anniversary a couple of days back, said his party will follow his principles and that of B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian constitution.
Vijay will also announce the state-level office-bearers of his party and unveil the road map and action plan for the 2026 Assembly polls on October 27.
“As a son of Tamil Nadu’s soil, I rightfully seek the support and blessings of the people for the success of TVK’s inaugural state-level conference”, he said, adding, the party’s policies will ignite new hope in the State’s political firmament and would be in line with the people’s
expectations.
“This conference will be a political festival that will guide us and the goals we aim to achieve”, he added.
The actor’s political foray was welcomed by various political parties in the state and the policies and ideology to be unveiled by him was being keenly watched by them and also by the political observers.
It was widely believed that his party was expected to attract more youths.
However, some of the parties said his political entry would not create any impact as the State was being ruled alternatively by the DMK and the AIADMK and that it would not cause any dent on their vote banks.
