Afghan forces seize arms, ammunition in eastern Ghazni province

Kabul: Afghan security forces have seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition including 35 pieces of AK-47 assault rifles in the eastern Ghazni province, said a statement of the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) on Tuesday.

The recovered arms and ammunitions, according to the statement, also include a PK machine gun, three pistols, an 82 mm caliber anti-tank gun, thousands of bullets, and explosive objects. The weapons were seized in operations in parts of the eastern Ghazni province.

The statement didn’t say if anyone has been arrested.

In other developments, Afghan security forces had also discovered and seized several weapon caches in Parwan, Nangarhar, and Nimroz provinces a couple of weeks ago.
