They say, and rightly so, that if we do not learn from history, then it is bound to repeat itself. Something similar and extremely unfortunate has happened in Ajmer city, Rajasthan, wherein people have failed to learn from history, time and again, and continue to maintain a socially complacent attitude, turning a blind eye to all the perils and nemeses lurking around.
Back in the year 1992, the otherwise peaceful city of Ajmer saw itself at the centre of media limelight due to negative reasons; 1992 and the infamously called ‘blackmail kaand’ continues to be the biggest and what was till now the only, blot on the name of Ajmer, its reputation as a very tranquil city, and its history.
In 1992, Muslim youths from the Khadim community of the Dargah recorded sexually explicit videos of Hindu girls who studied in schools and colleges, and blackmailed the girls with the help of the photos and videos. Now, after 32 long years, not much has changed in Ajmer- the Hindus remain to be the victims, the Muslims are still the perpetrators, and ultimately, ‘secularism’ in this city remains intact.
This 2024 blackmail racket in Ajmer has its roots in a public place for outings called the ‘7 Wonders Park’, wherein 90 percent of the visitors are now Muslims, and this has been going on for the last year or so. One arrested accused in the case, Arbaz, used to do photography outside this place, which helped him befriend Hindu girls very easily. These girls came to the park as they studied in the schools nearby. Now, police investigation has revealed that both the arrested accused, Arbaz and Irfan are in touch with many such school-going Hindu girls.
The police have also discovered many such mobile numbers which were contacted by the duo multiple times. Apart from those of Arbaz and Irfan, many other names have come up during the investigation. On Sunday, the police detained four more boys for questioning. On the other hand, Arbaz and Irfan were produced in court on Sunday itself and are on a two-day police remand.
Christian Ganj police station CI, Arvind Singh, said, ‘A lot of the mobile data of the accused have been erased, and we are now recovering the same, so that it can be determined as to how many more individuals were a part of this blackmail racket, and what role each individual played.’
It has also been revealed that both the arrested accused, Irfan and Arbaz are porn and drug addicts, and the duo frequently visited restaurants nearby the 7 Wonders Park, along with the school-going girls they trapped. Many other spots have also been zeroed down by the police, where these individuals used to take the girls along. No new arrest has been made in the case so far.
The police have found some important information from a few individuals involved, and they are also investigating into the role of a female student of a coaching institute, who helped the network in trapping a victim, studying in standard 11, who was gangraped, after which Arbaz and Irfan were arrested and the larger blackmail racket came to the fore.
