Army completes MP river bridge in record time

Pune: Indian Army Engineers have completed construction of a Bailey Bridge over Sukhtawa River in Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh in record time of six days.

A defence press release on Thursday here stated that the bridge was handed over to civil administration by the GOC, PMP Sub Area after the engineers of Sudarshan Chakra Corps of Southern Command Pune completed it.

The work on the bridge started on Aug 26.

The Bailey Bridge will ensure day and night connectivity and restoration of vital economic activity over Nagpur – Bhopal corridor on NH 46 in Madhya Pradesh.

The Bailey Bridge is 3.5m wide and 90 feet long single lane which is capable of sustaining heavy traffic.

This is first time in Madhya Pradesh Indian Army has made a bridge of this specification.

The NHAI and civil administration provided all kind of support during the planning and construction, the release added.
