BJP’s Khushbu nominated as NCW member

Chennai: Popular actor-politician and BJP National Executive Committee member Khushbu Sundar was today nominated as a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW).

She was one of the three members nominated in the NCW for a 3-year term. A notification issued by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development said that “…in pursuance of Section 3 of the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 (20 of 1990), the Centre Government hereby nominates the following persons as Members in the National commission for Women (NCW) for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge, or till the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is earliest”.

The newly nominated NCW members are Mamta Kumari of Jharkhand, Delina Khongdup of Meghalaya and Khushbu Sundar of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

She also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led Government at the Centre for entrusting her with such huge responsibility and vowed to strive hard for protection of women, their rights and women empowerment.

In tweet, Khushbu, shared the Union Government’s notification and said, “I thank our H’ble PM @narendramodi ji and the government of India for entrusting me with such a huge responsibility. I shall strive hard to protect,  preserve & nourish Nari Shakthi which is growing leaps & bounds underyour leadership. Looking forward eagerly. #JaiHind @NCWIndia”.

BJP State President K.Annamalai also took to twitter and congratulated Ms Khushbu Sundar and said it was a recognition of her relentless pursuit and fight for women’s rights.

Sharing a photo of Ms Khushbu in his social media, Mr Annamalai posted “On behalf of @BJP4TamilNadu, congratulations to @BJP4India National executive committee member Smt. @khushsundar avl for being nominated as a Member of the National Commission for Women.”

“This is a recognition of her relentless pursuit & fight for women’s rights!”, he said.

Khushbu, who is also a film producer and television presenter, joined the DMK initially. Later, she shifted to the Congress and was the made the party’s spokesperson.

However, eventually, she quit the Congress and joined the BJP and was made the National Executive Committee member.

Khushbu had contested as the BJP candidate from Thousand Lights Assembly constituency in Chennai in the May 2021 elections and lost to DMK candidate N.Ezhilan.
