Co-Op banks should work for the welfare and prosperity of common people: Shinde

Mumbai: Maharashtra State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appealed that cooperative banks in the state should work for the welfare and prosperity of the common people along with the sons and daughters of suicide farmers.

Chief Minister Mr. Shinde was speaking at the launch program of Shram Vidya Academic Loan Scheme held at the State Cooperative Bank Auditorium at Fort last evening .

On this occasion Health Minister Dr. Tanaji Sawant, MLA Pravin Darekar, Anant Adsul, Abhijit Adsul along with State Cooperative Bank Administrator Vidyadhar Anaskar, Managing Director Dilip Dighe were prominently present.

Mr Shinde said that the Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank has started the ‘Shram Vidya Pradhanika Karj Yojana’ to provide education loans of up to 15 lakhs at zero to 4 percent interest rate for the graduation education of boys and girls who have studied up to class 12th from the families of suicide farmers in the state and has provided great support to the boys and girls of the families of suicide farmers.

He said that he had done an important job of wiping their tears.

The government has helped the farmers by increasing the funds of the existing scheme to get them out of natural calamities. Compensation due to unseasonal rains was promptly paid. Like the central government, the state has also started a scheme to give Rs 6,000 per year to the farmers. Efforts are being made to support the farmers by implementing such various schemes. He said that the government is trying its best to prevent farmer suicides in the state.

The loan repayment period is 10 years i.e. the repayment will be after employment. No collateral or guarantors are required for loans up to five lakhs,he said.

For loans between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, collateral will not be required, but a guarantor will be required,he added.
